See this beautiful 1905 Beaux Arts building which was renovated in 2002 when much of the building was returned to its original condition. It features two grand staircases, stained glass domes, an impressive ceremonial courtroom and a depression era mural. We'll also meet with representatives from Jury Administration, US Attorneys Office, and Indiana Federal Community Defenders and learn about the federal grand jury process.

Join the LWV, Wayne Township Trustee David Baird, and Indiana State Representative Ed Delaney in an educational forum about the pros and cons of Indiana's township system. To support the League's ongoing interest in issues related to Indianapolis' downtown, we are venturing back to last year's location for the Annual Meeting at the Rathskeller Restaurant in the Athenaeum Building at 401 E. Michigan Street.
Reservations, but no payments, are still required. You will order lunch off the menu prior to the business meeting. Please feel free to invite a prospective member and submit reservations by April 20 to communications@lwvindy.org.
Free street parking is available on Saturdays. You may also park in the Athenaeum lot just east of the building for modest fee.

Our guest speaker, Allsion Melangton, is the President and CEO of the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee.
Melangton moved to Indianapolis in 1983 when the City of Indianapolis was in the beginning stages of implementing a sport tourism strategy, and moved USA Gymnastics from Colorado to Indianapolis. For 12 years she worked with USA Gymnastics directing 100 national and international events.
Following her tenure at the Olympics, Melangton worked for the Indiana Sports Corporation as Senior Vice President of Events. While at the Sports Corporation she bid on, planned, and directed numerous events including: Olympic Trials, World Championships, Men's and Women's NCAA Division I Basketball Championships, Big Ten Tournaments and administrated both Indianapolis Super Bowl bids for 2011 and 2012.

Due to scheduling conflicts the LWV of Indianapolis Annual Meeting has been moved from April to Saturday, June 4. Details are in the current newsletter.
Check-in and a light breakfast will be from 10 to 10:30a.m. with annual meeting business lasting for about an hour afterwards. A $10 contibution to the LWV General Fund is requested but not required.
An Indiana Historical Society staff member will orient League members to the History Center and its exhibitions. Members can then tour the "Indiana Experience," including You Are There 1968: Robert F. Kennedy Speaks, at their leisure.

Women's Equality Day Dinner & Movie.
Technically we're celebrating a day early, but a light dinner (5:45 to 6:15p.m.) will be provided by the LWV as we celebrate Women's Equality Day with a screening of "Iron Jawed Angels" (6:15 to 8:15p.m.) This film follows the political activists Alice Paul and Lucy Burns as they use a variety of means to revolutionize the American feminist movement to grant women the right to vote. A discussion will follow for those who can join us.
